Roaming Bear Tranquilized After Climbing Up Tree In Delran, N.J.
DELRAN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A black bear perched in a tree attracted a lot of attention Thursday morning in southern New Jersey.
Big crowds came out to watch experts take on the bear after it climbed up the tree in a condo complex near Route 130 in Delran, CBS 2 reported.
The 300-pound, 3-year-old male bear kept police and onlookers at bay for nearly four hours.
The bear was tranquilized and brought out of the tree and is expected to be moved to the Brendan Byrne State Forest in the Pinelands, Environmental Protection Department spokesman Larry Hajna said.
Officials said it could be the same black bear spotted in nearby Moorestown last weekend.
