Road Closures And Mass Transit Service Disruptions On 9/11 Anniversary
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Road closures and mass transit service disruptions were in place around New York City during the annual observance of the 9/11 attacks Sunday.

Officials say drivers should expect delays, closures and detours in connection with 9/11 events at the World Trade Center site and should avoid the area if possible.
Other road closures through 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12:
Location: Brooklyn-bound West Street
Description: Underpass will be closed
When: Sunday, September 11
Location: West Street will be closed from Albany Street north past the WTC site.
Description: Traffic leaving the Battery Tunnel will be detoured south to Battery Park or the Battery Park underpass.
Location: Battery Park underpass from southbound FDR Drive will be closed.
Description: Drivers going to Brooklyn can access the tunnel through local streets.
When: Sunday, September 11
Time: Starting at 5 a.m.
Location: Drivers heading to heading Brooklyn will not be able to access the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel from West Street south of Albany Street.
If vehicles need to access streets entering and exiting Battery Park City, directions are below:
North of marina
- From all points, proceed to North End Avenue
- North on North End Avenue to Chambers, Warren and Murray streets
- East on Chambers and Warren to West Street
South of marina
- From all points, proceed to South End Avenue
- South on South End Avenue to W. Thames Street
- East (left turn) on W. Thames Street to Battery Place
- South (right turn) on Battery Place
