Rick Pitino Stays True To Word, Gets Tattoo On Back In Honor Of NCAA Title
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- In mid-February, Louisville head men's basketball coach Rick Pitino made a promise to his team.
The Cardinals had just lost to Notre Dame to fall to 7-4 in Big East play. In an effort to motivate his team and lift its spirits, the legendary coach promised his players that if they won the national championship, he would get a tattoo.
Well sure enough, the Cardinals steamrolled the competition in the NCAA Tournament and defeated Michigan in the title game to win it all.
Give credit to the former Knicks coach. The 60-year-old stayed true to his word and got inked up. The photos were tweeted out by Louisville sports information director Kenny Klein.
Pitino's championship in 2013 was the second of his career. He also won with the University of Kentucky in 1996.
