There have ben six stickups in recent weeks along the Sound Shore - in Pelham, New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, and Harrison - a masked gunman clad in black.
He follows commuters home from the train station in the evening and then he pounces from behind, pushes his victims to the ground, and rifles through their pockets.
At the train station in Mamaroneck, where armed robbery is not common, on Tuesday, commuters were on alert.
"It's always on my mind because I work hard for my money. Man, I don't want anyone taking my money from me," said one man.
"Even before it happened, police were here. I come every morning and basically I've seen the police cars in the morning here," said another man.
On the train platforms, fliers advertise a $2,500 reward.
Police have increased patrols and there is a noticeable difference. They're on foot, on bicycles, and there are undercover units as well.
