Reward Offered In Murder Of Kean College Student Near Rutgers Campus
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Middlesex County, N.J. Crime Stoppers announced Saturday that they are offering cash rewards in the case of a 22-year-old Kean University student who was beaten to death last month in New Brunswick.
Acting Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and New Brunswick police Director Anthony A. Caputo asked anyone with information to come forward in the case of William McCaw, 22, whose body was found just before 10:30 a.m. Saturday in a backyard on Hartwell Street near Rutgers University.
McCaw had previously attended Rutgers University, but transferred last semester to Kean University. He was back near the Rutgers campus visiting his old fraternity brothers when somehow he ran into trouble, CBS 2's Weijia Jiang reported last month.
The area where his body was found is mostly off-campus housing for Rutgers University students who said the neighborhood is known for its partying.
An autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner's office determined that McCaw, of Gallatin, Tenn., died from blunt force trauma injuries and the manner of death was a homicide.
Police said McCaw had no known connection the residents of the property where his body was found.

Those who call will be given instructions on how to collect cash rewards by using a numerical code that will be recognized a local bank. The amount of the rewards will be determined by the Crime Stoppers of Middlesex County Board of Directors.
