Revis Acknowledges Lack Of Communication With Jets' Brass Prior To Trade
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Former Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis joined WFAN host Mike Francesa on Monday afternoon on the day that he was introduced as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer.
The four-time Pro Bowler, of course, was traded to the Bucs on Sunday for the 13th-overall pick in Thursday night's draft and another selection in 2014.
The 27-year-old shed some light on what transpired this offseason and what he went through as his fate was left hanging in the balance.

"This all started back in January," Revis explained to Francesa. "As soon as the season was over, I turned on the TV. It said I'm getting traded -- without nobody contacting me. Not (head coach) Rex (Ryan), not (general manager John) Idzik, not (owner Woody) Johnson, nobody contacted me. They left me out of the loop, I guess you can say. Yeah, I'm human. I felt some type of way at that point, because I didn't get answers. I was searching for answers.
"Am I getting traded? Am I not? And that was that whole situation. Yeah, I felt some type of way. But you gotta move on."
As rumors continued to swirl about Revis potentially being traded, the seventh-year player repeatedly said that he wanted to remain a Jet for the remainder of his career.
He reiterated that sentiment on Monday.
"Yeah, yeah I did," Revis said. "I said that through a number of interviews, even in the past. But now it's a new situation and this is a new chapter in my life, and now I'm a Buccaneer."
The former first-round pick of Gang Green in 2007 showed up to the team's voluntary workouts last week. He admitted that he's only talked to Ryan in defensive meetings.
"I haven't talked to him one-on-one," Revis said. "You see him around the facility and you say, 'Hey, what's up?' But it wasn't a one-on-one sit down."
Revis did say, however, that he talked to Idzik a couple of weeks after the general manager's introductory press conference.
"I mean, he said I was a Jet," Revis said. "...I told him I wanted to be there. I told him. I told him I wanted to be there, and he would say he wanted me to be (there), too. But obviously now that's not the case."
The 2009 AFC Defensive Player of the Year told Francesa that he hasn't had any conversations with Johnson since the end of last season.
"Oh, no," Revis said. "No, no. I haven't had any conversations with Mr. Johnson."
Revis signed a non-guaranteed six-year, $96 million deal with Tampa Bay. He said he "definitely" would have signed the same deal with New York.
"If my representatives and Idzik would have sat down and actually talked about it, yeah, definitely," Revis said. "But that never came about, Mike. That never came about."
In his six years with the Jets, Revis accumulated 294 tackles, three forced fumbles, 19 interceptions and three touchdowns.
