In 1943, 1,255 seniors graduated from James Hillhouse High School in New Haven.

Today, their class president, Anthony Pegnataro, is organizing a reunion of the over 500 classmates who are now in their 80s.

Pegnataro said his class got jipped.

Because of the war and their restrictions, the senior prom was cancelled.

"I'm sure everyone was terribly disappointed," Schneidau said to Pegnataro.

"Oh, they were. They were, especially the girls," Pegnataro said.

The plan is for a 70th reunion luncheon next year.

"Gotta get the word out there and they'll come. They'll have a good time," Pegnataro said. "For some of us it might be the last good time we have."

For more information, call Pegnataro at 203-483-9504 or 203-530-9564
