Residents Hold Pro-Verrazano Bridge Bike Path Rally
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Protesters gathered at a rally on Saturday to push for a bike and pedestrian path on the Verrazano–Narrows Bridge.
As WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported, bicyclist Rabi Abonour said it's a hassle getting from his home in Sunset Park, Brooklyn to Staten Island.
"Bike 45 minutes to the ferry, take the ferry across, wait for the ferry," he said.

"It adds transportation, capacity and options," said Meredith Sladek.
Sladek, with a group called The Harbor Ring, said a Verrazano bike path is the missing link in the group's vision for a 50-mile loop around New York Harbor that encourages fitness and tourism.
Abonour added that the path would provide a toll-free option over the bridge, which could provide an economic boost to Staten Island.
"I'm sure people would come over," he said.
The MTA said cost, security and technical challenges are all being looked at in a feasibility study not expected to be completed until 2016.
