Rescuers Work To Get Person Out Of Marsh Off N.J. Turnpike

RIDGEFIELD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A rescue operation was underway late Tuesday off the New Jersey Turnpike in Ridgefield.

Police said a person got stuck in the marsh near the Vince Lombardi rest stop on the turnpike at around 9:30 p.m.

Rescue teams were trying to get the person out.

A helicopter could be seen hovering over the area, assisting in the rescue.

It was not clear as of 11 p.m. how the person ended up in the marsh.

New Jersey State Police said the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration was handling the incident. It was not immediately clear why.
