Jets Acquire RB Chris Ivory From Saints For 4th-Round Pick
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York Jets traded a fourth-round pick to the New Orleans Saints for running back Chris Ivory on Friday night.
Ivory, a 6-foot, 225-pound bruiser, ran for 217 yards on 40 carries in 2012, and is averaging 5.1 yards per carry during his first three years in the league, all with New Orleans. He will team in the Jets' backfield with Mike Goodson, who was signed to a three-year free agent deal in March.
"He's a very physical, violent runner," general manager John Idzik said of Ivory. "He's got size, he's got speed and runs with attitude and plays with attitude."
It was the second big splash made by the Jets on the second day of the NFL Draft. They earlier created quite a buzz by selecting West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith in the second round.
Gang Green then selected offensive lineman Brian Winters out of Kent State in the third round.
