Report: Yankees 'Quietly Shopping' Granderson; More Mo In 2014?
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Yankees picked up the final year of Curtis Granderson's contract this offseason.
But will the Grandy Man be picking up his paychecks in the Bronx?
With an eye on payroll flexibility, the Bombers "have been quietly shopping" Granderson for the past month, according the New York Daily News.
Granderson, due $15 million in 2013, averaged a career-low .232 in 2012, though he had 106 RBIs and set a career-high with 43 home runs. It was the outfielder's second straight season with at least 40 home runs and 100 RBIs.
The 31-year-old was one of the main culprits in the Yankees' offensive slump this postseason, held hitless in the ALCS after batting .158 in the ALDS.
"No deal is imminent," the Daily News reported.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, recently re-signed Yankees closer Mariano Rivera said he'd announce his intentions for 2014 before the upcoming season. MLB's all-time saves leader would be a lock for the Hall of Fame. So will the countdown start after his current one-year deal?
"I'll tell you in spring training," Rivera said, according to the New York Post. "Spring training is going to be the date."
