Report: Vick Would Consider Jets If He's Clear-Cut No. 1 QB
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Mark Sanchez has been demoted and Tim Tebow reportedly has one eye on the nearest exit.
So what's next for the Jets?
Quarterback Greg McElroy will get his chance to impress during Sunday's home finale against the Chargers. It's expected he'll start Week 17 if all goes well.
As for 2013 in New York, there's been a lot of talk about Eagles signal-caller Michael Vick, hampered by injuries and relegated to backup duty in Philadelphia.
Would he be a fit for Rex's Gang Green?
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Vick "would consider signing with the Jets if he were paid more than Sanchez, making it clear that Vick was the No. 1 quarterback on the depth chart."
Vick, scheduled to earn $15.5 million in 2013, could be released after Philadelphia wraps up its disappointing season.
"I have a lot of football left in me, a lot left in my tank," he said Monday, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. "The future will take care of itself."
The 32-year-old also has an eye on the career path of Oregon coach Chip Kelly, according to Rapoport.
"Vick already has imagined himself playing in Kelly's fast-paced spread offense," Rapoport reported.
If he's paid more. If he's released. If he's clear-cut No. 1. Too many ifs? Not a great fit? Be heard in the comments!
