Report: Unhappy Braves Boycotted Chipper Jones' 1st Pitch
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Chipper Jones' playoff prediction had the Atlanta Braves close to chanting "Lar-ry!"
Jones threw out the first pitch in Atlanta prior to Game 1 of the NLDS, but didn't get to uncork it to a player. Instead he delivered to the Braves' mascot behind home plate.
Why?
Nobody "volunteered" to catch Jones after he picked the Los Angeles Dodgers to beat Atlanta in four games during a radio interview on the team's flagship station, according to the New York Post.
The Braves' unhappy players will have all winter to think that one over. Chipper nailed it: Los Angeles wrapped things up Monday night in Game 4 and will move on to the NLCS.
Jones, an eight-time All-Star third baseman, retired in 2012. He played his entire 19-year career in Atlanta.
