Report: Tarrytown In No Rush On Zoning Changes For New Tappan Zee Bridge
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Construction of a new Tappan Zee Bridge will likely require some zoning changes in Tarrytown, but officials say they will not rush to pass them.
Bridge builders want to use barges and rail to bring in much of the construction material and the workforce.
But if they plan on using the Hudson River waterfront in Tarrytown, town officials, in a Newsday report, said they haven't heard from the Tappan Zee team.

Any waterfront zoning change, they said, would require the usual schedule of meetings and hearings.
It could take more than three months.
New York State is expecting a $1.5 billion federal loan, vital when it comes to the affordability of tolls on the new span, according to Rep. Nita Lowey.
"This is very important as the governor and his people are calculating what the fares will be," she told WCBS 880 reporter Paul Murnane. "The goal is to keep the fares as low as you possibly can, especially for commuters."
She said she and others are "absolutely committed" to keeping tolls "as low as possible."
State officials said the New York State Thruway Authority property in South Nyack and the land around the state police barracks is available for staging areas and there will be no delay in construction.
