Report: Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick To Build Mega-Mansion In West Village
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork )-- Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick reportedly inked a deal to build a massive home in West Village, and not everyone is happy about it.
"A mega-mansion is really a mansion that is wider than 25 feet," Adam Vanderbook, a realtor with Dolly Lenz Real Estate, told CBS2's Jill Nicolini.
Vanderbrook told CBS2 that the couple are used to living the good life. They reportedly owned a $19 million, 6,800-square-foot townhouse in Greenwich Village. And according to reports, they have now purchased not one, but two town homes on West 11th Street for $35 million.
"The property is so appealing because of the exact location on West 11th and they can come and go as they please. People kind of leave celebrities alone in that area," Vanderbook said.
The property was used for non-profit and currently is almost 14,000 square feet. It has nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms and would be combined into one mega-home.
"Right now it's basically a blank slate, so you would have to come in with an architect and kind of create your mega-mansion from bottom up," Vanderbook said of the space.
A rep for the "Sex and the City" star denied "there was impending construction on her homes." But would the neighbors mind?
"I understand neighbors are going to be upset because they are going to be walking under scaffolding. They are going to see construction on the street," Vanderbook said.
Parker and Broderick would join other celebrities, like Madonna, if the plans are accurate. Madonna owns a 57-foot-wide mansion with private gates on the Upper East Side.
Vanderbrook also says there are great schools in the West Village and close by in Chelsea which makes it an even better location for celebrities who have children.
