Report: Sanitation Worker Accused Of Punching Cab Driver In East Harlem

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A New York City sanitation worker has been charged with assault, reportedly on allegations that he punched a cab driver who complained that a garbage truck was blocking the road in East Harlem.

Everett Branch, 57, was arrested around 11:45 p.m. Sunday in the 23rd Precinct, which includes East Harlem.

He was charged with assault, police said.

Police did not provide further details. But a New York Daily News report said Branch was accused of punching the cab driver at 105th Street and Lexington Avenue because the cabbie complained about the garbage truck.

The sanitation worker sped off and the cabbie followed him, until police pulled over both at 112th Street and Third Avenue, the newspaper reported.

The cab driver suffered cuts to his lip, the paper reported.
