Report: Rangers Allow Wade Redden To Seek A Trade
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Wade Redden has no where to go when training camp opens in the next few days as the New York Rangers have not invited the defenseman. According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, the Rangers have given Redden permission to begin speaking to other teams in hopes of arranging a trade.
Redden spent the last two seasons with the Rangers AHL team, and is in the final two years of a six-year $39 million deal.
Prior to the new CBA deal reached between the NHL and NHLPA, the Rangers were paying Redden to play in the AHL so they could avoid his $6.5 million cap hit. However, under the new rules of the CBA the Rangers will not be able to avoid this.
