Accused Cashman Stalker Speaks Out; GM's Bank Records Subpoenaed?
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- According to the New York Post, prosecutors in Manhattan have subpoenaed the bank records of Yankees general manager Brian Cashman.
The Post reports Cashman made multiple deposits totaling "as much as $20,000," going back 10 months, to the account of alleged mistress and accused stalker Louise Meanwell.
Meanwell was arrested last week for allegedly stalking Cashman and extorting him of $6,000. She claims Cashman gave her monetary gifts as part of "an inappropriate relationship."
Cashman has denied the affair.
"His handwriting is on those deposit slips," a source told the paper, "so there's no way he can claim he wasn't giving her this money."
Meanwell, who also goes by the name Louise Neathway, has denied the charges of grand larceny, stalking and harassment. Her lawyers say it was Cashman who turned on Meanwell when their relationship ended.
"How can (Cashman) deny that we had a relationship when the doorman in my building saw him all the time when he took me out to eat?" Meanwell said in a jailhouse interview with the Post. "We went out together."
"Surprisingly ... he was a good lover," she added. "A lot of things about him surprised me."
Also, according to the New York Daily News, the 36-year-old claims Cashman lied to the feds about his specific knowledge of steroid use by the Yankees.
"These claims are complete and utter fiction," Cashman's spokesman told the Daily News. "The latest installment of a carefully concocted campaign of harassment now spewing from a jail cell by a person who is being held on serious criminal felony charges of harassment and extortion."
Cashman's wife, Mary, filed for divorce last Friday in Stamford, Conn.
Meanwell is being held on $300,000 bond at Rikers Island.
