Report: North Jersey Woman Admits To Sending Threatening Letters
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- A northern New Jersey woman has admitted to mailing a threatening letter to the Town of Secaucus.
New Jersey's U.S. attorney says 50-year-old Karen Waller of Irvington pleaded guilty Thursday to a count of mailing a threatening communication.
Members of the FBI's Joint terrorism Task Force arrested Waller in July on charges she allegedly mailed more than 50 threatening letters to the U.S. Supreme Court, Rutgers University, Woodbridge town hall, Milburn police and an insurance company, among other places. Authorities say the letters threatened to injure and kill unspecified people.
Waller admitted Thursday that she wrote and mailed a letter to Secaucus that included threatening language about bomb attacks and warned against underestimating her.
She could face five years in prison and a $250,000 fine at her Feb. 27 sentencing.
