Report: NJ Man Fatally Beat Wife After Dispute Over Counseling
CHESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say a 75-year-old New Jersey man allegedly beat his wife to death with a baseball bat after they argued over psychological counseling that she and their son had insisted the man undergo.
Leo Moran faces murder charges in the death of his 74-year-old wife, Charlotte, who was beaten multiple times in their Chester Township home on Thursday. He remained jailed Saturday in lieu of $1 million bail.
The Star-Ledger of Newark, citing court documents, reported that Leo Moran had repeatedly resisted the counseling before finally agreeing to have his son take him to a hospital for a screening on Wednesday night.
But Moran became angry when family members said he wasn't honest with the counselor. He also feared his wife of 54 years had been unfaithful.
