Report: Nets To Extend GM Billy King's Contract With Multi-Year Deal
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The Brooklyn Nets are on the verge of extending General Manager Billy King's contract, according to Yahoo Sports.
King's deal was set to expire at the end of the 2012-13 NBA season. The Nets have greatly improved under King's watch and were able to lock down the number four seed after a 49-33 regular season.
When King took over in the summer of 2010, his task was turn around the Nets from a disappointing franchise that finished 12-70 after the 2009-10 regular season. Now, they're in the midst of an exciting series against the Chicago Bulls.
The Nets are set to face the Bulls in Game Three of their first-round series on Thursday night.
Joe Johnson, who has been battling plantar fasciitis in his left foot, is expected to be a game-time decision.
Chicago evened the series in Game Two by defeating the Nets 90-82. The Nets struggled from the field in that game, only shooting 35 percent from the field. They're now looking to take the series lead by beating the Bulls at United Center.
