Report: NBA To Bust Out Sleeved Jerseys On Christmas
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Christmas has arrived early for NBA fans -- and it has sleeves.
Though judging by the reaction on social media, the league's reported holiday jerseys may as well be a big ol' lump of coal.
Uniform maven Paul Lukas of ESPN says he has confirmed the jerseys that were leaked online Thursday, sleeves and all, will indeed be worn on the court Dec. 25.
"The overall visual effect is that of a glorified T-shirt," Lucas wrote.
Images of the uniform tops were passed around on Twitter after Brian Erni of SportsNet New York noticed them for sale on eBay. Erni posted them to SNY's website, saying he'd "put money" on them being legitimate Christmas jerseys.
The seller, "erikdeals," no longer has the items up for auction, ESPN reported.
Brooklyn hosts Chicago on Christmas Day. Other games include New York-Oklahoma City, LA Lakers-Miami, San Antonio-Houston and Golden State-LA Clippers.
The Warriors broke out the NBA's first sleeved jersey on Feb. 22 last season and wore them twice more. The team announced six dates for the alternates this season -- not including Dec. 25.
Some reaction:
The NBA used a monochromatic design for its jerseys last Christmas.
