Report: Mets To Honor Marlins' Jose Reyes With Video Tribute
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Hey, at least it's not Chipper Jones.
Right, Mets fans?
There will be a video tribute on April 24 to "acknowledge" Jose Reyes' career in New York, according to the New York Daily News.
Without a formal offer from his team of nine years, Reyes signed a long-term deal with the NL East rival Marlins in December.
Last week, WFAN's Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton confirmed the Mets will tip their cap to a retiring nemesis, Braves third baseman Chipper Jones. Though the team's plans are unclear, fans in Queens will have one last chance to applaud Jones — or chant "Lar-ry!" — during Atlanta's last visit to Citi Field in 2012.
Mets fans will surely be more kind to Reyes, a fan favorite who captured the team's first NL batting title last season.
The honor at Citi Field will come during Miami's first visit to Flushing, before the opener of a three-game set, the Daily News reported.
