Reports: Knicks And PG Beno Udrih Agree To 1-Year Deal
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York Knicks have agreed to terms with point guard Beno Udrih on a one-year deal worth $1.27 million, according to multiple reports.
The 31-year-old will serve as a backup for Raymond Felton and will most likely split time off of the bench with fellow veteran point guard Pablo Prigioni. Udrih made $7 million last year with the Orlando Magic, so the Knicks signed the Slovenian on a major discount.
The point guard played in 39 games for the Milwaukee Bucks last season, before being traded to the Magic in a deal that included J.J. Reddick and Tobias Harris. Combined between the Magic and Bucks, Udrih averaged 8.2 points and 4.6 assists in 2012-13.
The Knicks will be Udrih's fifth team. Before his stint with the Bucks and half-season with the Magic, the point guard spent four years with the Sacramento Kings. The veteran was a first-round pick of the San Antonio Spurs in 2004. Udrih won two NBA Championships (2005 and 2007) during his three-year campaign with Tim Duncan & Co.
With the signing of Udrih, the Knicks now have 14 players under contract on their roster, leaving one spot available. The 15th roster spot will most likely be fought over between prospects in training camp.
