Report: Jets' Ellis Sued For 2008 Seattle Snowball Toss
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) -- Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis has reportedly been sued for throwing a giant snowball at a Seattle Seahawks fan after a 13-3 loss in 2008.
According to TMZ, the fan claims he "suffered physical injury, humiliation, mental distress, pain and wage loss from the incident."
A video of the Jets' defensive end tossing the snow pile was captured and posted to YouTube.
In the video, fans are seen throwing snowballs at New York players and staff as they walk off the field. As he approaches the walkway leading to the locker room, Ellis reaches into a pile of snow, picks up a large chunk and tosses it into the stands at Qwest Field, appearing to hit at least a few fans.
Ellis said after the incident in 2008 that he wasn't angry at the time, and there was no malicious intent on his part.
"It was kind of like a little battlefield out there, so to speak," Ellis said. "I mean, it was just all in fun, going to the locker room."
Ellis was fined $10,000 by the NFL shortly after the snowball incident.
