Report: Half Of New Jersey Roads Are Deficient

Fifty percent of New Jersey's highways are deficient - riddled with potholes and cracks. Thirty percent are in "fair" condition, and 20 percent are "good."
Don Mendick from Moonachie hit a deficient stretch of Route 17 in Maywood.
"I thought my wheel was gonna fall off. A pothole was so big. I tried to avert one and consequently hit another one," Don told WCBS 880 reporter Sean Adams.
He says the roughest rides are on Route 17, Route 46, and Route 3.
Dan Granuchie's delivery truck bears the scars of a bumpy ride.
"You fix and then, three, four, five months later, the same piece. And when they take it off to repair it, they show it to me. It's a brand-new piece, but it's damaged," Dan said.
Gov. Chris Christie says his five-year $8 billion capital plan will help improve conditions.
The Tri-State Transportation Campaign, however, believes the plan will spend more on new projects and not enough on repairing crumbling highways.
The DOT says that repaving money will actually increase.
The question now is what will be fixed and when.
