Report: Giants Sign TE Brandon Myers
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Last night, USA Today's Mike Garafolo reported that the New York Giants have agreed terms with free agent tight end Brandon Myers.
Myers, 27, will fill the void left by Martellus Bennett, who joined the Chicago Bears earlier this week. He visited the Giants' facilities and the two sides quickly agreed a contract.
The former Oakland Raiders tight end emerged as one of the Giants' top targets after he enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2012. Myers made 79 receptions for 806 yards and scored 4 touchdowns last season.
He developed into a favorite target for Carson Palmer in Oakland and he'll likely be a big part of the Giants' offense as Eli Manning tends to heavily involve tight ends.
Myers was drafted in the 6th round of the 2009 NFL draft and previously spent his entire career with the Raiders. He has 111 lifetime receptions for 1,056 yards and 4 career touchdowns.
What do you think of the move, Giants fans? Will Myers be an upgrade over Bennett? Let us know...
