Report: Giants Sign Depth Receiver Louis Murphy
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The New York Giants have come to terms with free agent wide receiver Louis Murphy on a one-year deal, according to a published report.
The Star-Ledger reported the deal on Saturday.
The situations of Giants' free agents Ramses Barden and Domenik Hixon are both up in the air after each decided to test the market. They've already lost tight end Martellus Bennett to the Chicago Bears.
As a member of the Carolina Pathers, Murphy caught 25 receptions for 336 yards in 16 games. Previously, Murphy spent three seasons with the Oakland Raiders. Murphy has caught 115 balls for 1,707 yards and has seven touchdowns in his four NFL years.
He was drafted by the Raiders in the fourth round of 2009 NFL Draft. Murphy is considered to be one of many low-cost additions the Giants are making due to the team being close to the salary cap threshold.
