Report: Derek Jeter Explored Purchasing Bills During Final MLB Season
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It's no secret that Yankees icon Derek Jeter aspires to own a major league team someday.
But maybe the future Hall of Famer would settle for an NFL franchise.
According to The Buffalo News, Jeter explored purchasing the Bills during his final season in the big leagues.
The newspaper reports that it's unclear whether the 14-time All-Star intended to lead an ownership group or was interested in being a minority partner.
The Bills, of course, ended up selling for $1.4 billion to Terry and Kim Pegula.
The Pegulas were unaware that Jeter had interest in buying the franchise, according to The Buffalo News. They have not been contacted by the ex-shortstop, and do not have any plans to sell a portion of the team to him.
In September, Forbes estimated that Jeter earned roughly $400 million during his 19-year career.
