Report: Cowher Loves CBS Gig, Not Feeling A Return To Coaching Right Now
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- If you are one of those people who has Bill Cowher on a head coaching wish list, it might be time to move on to someone else.
The former leader of the Pittsburgh Steelers told the NY Post this week that he has no intention of returning to NFL sidelines any time soon.
"I don't see myself going back there any time in the near future," Cowher said.
If Cowher, 56, was ever to decide he wants to coach again he'd instantly be the most attractive candidate available.
He had nine seasons with at least 10 wins and finished below .500 just three times during his 15-year run in Pittsburgh. He guided the Steelers to the Big Game twice, losing to Dallas in Super Bowl XXX, 27-17, and beating Seattle in Super Bowl XL, 21-10.
He finished his career 149-90-1 during the regular season and 12-9 in the playoffs.
Cowher is often linked to the Giants when they are struggling, as is the case this season. Many believe he'd be the perfect fit to take over the historic franchise once Tom Coughlin is no longer in the picture.
"I'll never say never, but I really enjoy what I am doing at CBS in the studio," he told the Post. "I want to do my work and be as good as I can be at it. I am in a really good place, talking about all the games with the other guys."
Normally a studio analyst, Cowher will be in the television booth with Jim Nantz and Phil Simms on Sunday calling the game between the Jets and the Steelers at MetLife Stadium.
