Report: 'Melo Wants Trade - Knicks, Nets Possible
Carmelo Anthony has been rumored to want out of Denver for months. After 'Melo turned down a 3-year, $65 million extension with the Nuggets, those rumors picked up steam. Now it's official... reportedly.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports that Anthony and his agents have told Denver that he wants out. Perhaps as soon as this season.
According to Wojnarowski:
"Anthony wants to leave Denver and get his three-year, $65 million contract extension now. This partnership is rounding third and rapidly reaching disrepair. Denver is willing to trade Anthony, J.R. Smith(notes) and Kenyon Martin(notes), and start over again, sources said."

The Knicks have been rumored to be Carmelo's preferred destination. However, the NYS income tax code could hurt their chances of landing the superstar.
Recently, the Nets and Clippers have emerged as the most probable destinations for Anthony. Both New Jersey and Los Angeles have the blue-chip trading prospects that could appeal most to the Nuggets.
With a sign-and-trade deal, Anthony would get the money he may not be able to earn with a new collective bargaining agreement while the Nuggets land players to help them get on with life after 'Melo.
He's due to make about $17 million next season, after which he can opt out.
