Report: Brothers Face Charges In Connection With 2013 Hempstead Stabbing
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Two men have been charged in connection with a stabbing that took place in Hempstead, last June.
Raphael Whyte, 28, was arrested at his home on Friday, Newsday reported. Whyte's brother Uriel was arrested less than a month after the June 21, stabbing.
The pair was allegedly driving down Patterson Avenue, when they spotted a 19-year-old man with whom they were engaged in an ongoing dispute.
Uriel allegedly exited the vehicle with his brother and brandished a knife before stabbing the man in the arm and chest.
The victim was treated for a collapsed lung and a series of cuts and bruises.
Uriel was picked up on July 18, Newsday reported, he was charged with second degree attempted murder, first degree assault, third degree criminal possession of a weapon, and fourth degree possession of a dangerous weapon.
Officers showed at Raphael's home on Friday, prompting him to run out the back door before being taken under arrest, police said.
Raphael Whyte has been charged with second degree attempted murder, third degree criminal possession of marijuana, and seventh degree possession of a controlled substance. His arraignment was scheduled for Saturday.
