Suspect Charged With Murder In Fatal Bronx Stabbing
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A man has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of another man who was reportedly trying to break up a fight in the South Bronx.
Around 6:10 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a 911 call of a man stabbed in front of 389 E. 151st St., in the Melrose section of the Bronx.
Responding officers found James Lewis, 35, of the 300 block of East 153rd Street in the Bronx, with stab wounds to his torso.
Paramedics took the victim to Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
Witnesses told authorities that the victim had been trying to break up a fight between a man and a woman, the New York Post reported.
A suspect – Miguel Flores, 37, of the 400 block of East 168th Street in the Bronx – was later charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Court information for Flores was not immediately available.
