Report: A-Rod To Meet With MLB Investigators On Friday
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Major League Baseball investigators will interview Yankees star Alex Rodriguez on Friday about his alleged link to Biogenesis, according to the New York Daily News.
The shuttered Florida anti-aging clinic and its operator, Anthony Bosch, are at the center of baseball's latest performance-enhancing drugs scandal. A-Rod's name -- along with Milwaukee Brewers star Ryan Braun and others -- surfaced earlier this year in documents reportedly belonging to the clinic. All have denied receiving PEDs from Biogenesis.
Braun "refused to answer questions" during his meeting with MLB investigators on June 29, according to ESPN.com.
Commissioner Bud Selig is expected to hand down suspensions after the All-Star break, ESPN reported.
ESPN previously reported that MLB was eyeing 100-game suspensions. A-Rod has denied all links to Biogenesis and Bosch, who has agreed to cooperate in baseball's investigation.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez "has prepared a hefty defense that he believes will exonerate him," the Daily News reported.
"We've been fully instructed not to comment on that case," he said after Tuesday's rehab game with Single-A Tampa, according to the Daily News.
A-Rod, 37, is on his way to returning to the Yankees following offseason hip surgery.
