Report: A-Rod Nearing Deal For 'Tell-All' Book
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Alex Rodriguez's explosive in-studio interview with WFAN's Mike Francesa may have just been the introduction.
The Yankees third baseman is nearing a lucrative agreement for a "tell-all" book about his feud with Major League Baseball, according to the New York Post. The deal could be worth millions, the Post reported.
A-Rod was suspended 211 games by MLB for his connection to Biogenesis, the closed anti-aging clinic in Florida accused of peddling performance-enhancing drugs to players. Rodriguez, who has denied using PEDs since his time with the Texas Rangers, is appealing the ban. A decision isn't expected until January.
Rodriguez has filed a lawsuit against the league, claiming a "witch hunt" against him to secure Commissioner Bud Selig's legacy.
A source told the Post that multiple publishers are jockeying for A-Rod's story, adding the book will get "into the real low-down dirt" regarding MLB and the Yankees.
A-Rod also has discussed the idea of a documentary about his suspension saga with "Cocaine Cowboys" director Billy Corben, the Post reported.
The 38-year-old Rodriguez made a surprise visit to the WFAN studios after storming out of his arbitration hearing on Nov. 20.
"I'm done," he said during the lengthy sit-down. "I don't have a chance. You let the arbiter decide whatever he decides. My position doesn't change. I didn't do it."
A-Rod told Francesa "the absurdity and injustice" became too much after arbitrator Fredric Horowitz refused to order Selig's testimony.
"I am disgusted with this abusive process, designed to ensure that the player fails," Rodriguez said. "I have sat through 10 days of testimony by felons and liars, sitting quietly through every minute, trying to respect the league and the process. ... I walked out and will not participate any further in this farce."
