Report: A-Rod, Cervelli's Names Linked To Dollar Amounts In Documents
MIAMI (CBSNewYork) – Alex Rodriguez - $4,500, Fransisco Cervelli - $2,500.
A list written in April by Biogenesis of America clinic founder Anthony Bosch named the two Yankees with dollar amounts next to their names, according to an ESPN report.
The recently discovered document, which includes 2011 National League MVP Ryan Braun and Melky Cabrera, indicates players that owed Bosch money for performance enhancing drugs and those that have paid up, says an ESPN source. Braun had apparently owed Bosch $1,500 while the two Yankees were up to date.
"I heard about it," Cervelli told ESPN Saturday. "It's stupid. I don't know."
Cervelli, who will not play for Italy in the World Baseball Classic despite being named to their roster, did not further explain what his name is doing on the reported document.
"I checked with doctors, people, and somebody recommended me to Biogenesis," he said last Wednesday before the team's first spring training workout for pitchers and catchers. "I went there for, maybe, suggestions, and that's it. I walked away with nothing. No (therapy). I just went there, talked, and that's it."
Alex Rodriguez has remained tightlipped since the Miami New Times reported last month that he had bought human growth hormone and other performance-enhancing substances in recent years from Biogenesis, the now-closed clinic in Coral Cables near the three-time AL MVP's offseason home. A-Rod's camp denied any relationship with Bosch.
