Renowned Tailor Mohan Ramchandani Donates Suits To 17 Unemployed Men Looking For Work
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- If there's anyone who believes in the old adage that 'Clothes Make The Man,' it's Mohan Ramchandani.
Ramchandani is a well-known tailor who sells custom-made suits for the likes of Rudy Guiliani. Now, he's giving 17 suits away to unemployed men so they can go on job interviews.
"I told them, 'you have a nice suit now, start working.' No more excuses," Ramchandani told 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria chuckling.

The suits will go to graduates of the HOPE Program, which is a nonprofit providing training and job placement assistance to New Yorkers in need. They were measured for the new suits and hand-made shirts this past week.
When Ramchandani heard about the project at his temple, he knew he could help. He said he remembers when he first came to the United States from India, he had only a few hundred dollars in his pocket, but he knew how to make men's suits and went into business and now runs Mohan's Custom Tailors.
"I didn't speak English, I never went to school, but little by little I got the customer and I built up my business," he said.
Today, Ramchandani's suits sell for about $1,000 each. He said he believes the new clothes will give the men confidence as they pursue work.
"In the custom-made suit, you will feel much better. When you feel much better, then you really impress somebody," Ramchandani said.
