Madison Square Garden Unveils New 'Sky Bridge' Seats
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Some fans will have a unique view -- high above the New York Knicks' home court -- when the fully renovated Madison Square Garden opens its doors next week.
MSG has unveiled photos of the new Chase Bridges, two "first-of-their-kind" seating options constructed during the third and final phase of the arena's $1-billion makeover.
"In a nod to New York City's many renowned suspension bridges, the Chase Bridges are suspended from The Garden's iconic ceiling by 24 (north bridge) and 26 (south bridge) steel tube hangers," the Garden said in a statement.
Both bridges combined can accommodate 430 seated fans and weigh in at 662 tons. At 22 feet wide, the bridges also boast a roomy walkway.
MSG said the Chase Bridges will also feature "colors, design elements and curving forms that compliment and seamlessly integrate with the distinctive interior architecture of The Garden's bowl."
Tickets for the so-called sky bridges -- selling for $110 to $210, according to the New York Post -- will be available for Knicks and Rangers games and select events, the Garden said.
MSG is scheduled to reopen on Oct. 25 for the Knicks' preseason game against Charlotte. The Rangers will hold their home opener -- finally -- on Oct. 28 against Montreal.
