Relative Of Buffalo Shooting Spree Suspect Killed
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- A relative of a man accused of killing four people in a shooting spree outside a Buffalo bar has been slain in a drive-by shooting.
Police told Buffalo News that they were investigating whether slaying was retaliation for last month's bloodbath, in which eight people were shot.
Authorities said 34-year-old Ahmen Lester was ambushed by gunmen who fired from a passing car at around 1:30 p.m.
Police and a community activist tell the newspaper that Lester was a brother-in-law of Riccardo McCray, the man charged in the shooting spree at the City Grill.
Violence had touched Lester before. Police said he survived two previous shootings, one in 1992 when he was 16 and another in 2003.
McCray was awaiting trial on murder charges.
