Red Hot Chili Peppers Set To 'Crash' Bruno Mars' Halftime Show
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It was a "Big Hello to Brooklyn" on Saturday night.
On Sunday, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will give an even bigger hello to a worldwide audience watching Super Bowl XLVIII.
"I've never rehearsed so much for three minutes in my life," RHCP drummer Chad Smith told CBS 2's Don Champion on Saturday during WFAN radio's "Big Hello to Brooklyn" concert at Barclays Center.
The Chili Peppers were a late addition to this year's Super Bowl halftime show headlined by Bruno Mars at MetLife Stadium.
"There's no pressure on us," Smith said. "It's his gig. We're just gonna crash his gig for like three minutes and then we pop up and things blow up."

Smith said he was shocked when he got the call about Sunday's performance.
"We've been known for antics," he said. "I think we will be on our best behavior for the Super Bowl."
Smith joked that he's also prepared to crash the game if the Denver Broncos find themselves without a quarterback.
"In case Peyton Manning goes down, I'm ready," Smith said.

Kickoff for the Denver-Seattle Super Bowl is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
