2 People Charged In Red Hook Shooting That Claimed Life Of Unborn Child
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two people were charged late Wednesday in connection with a drive-by shooting that left five people injured in Brooklyn.
19-year-old Marquise Frederick and Quamari McAllister, both 19 and of Brooklyn, were charged with five counts each of attempted murder, assault with serious injury, criminal facilitation, criminal possession of a weapon, and menacing, police said.
Frederick was identified as the gunman, according to a New York Daily News report.
A third person was also reported to be in custody, but no charges were announced.
The shooting took place around 10:45 p.m. Monday outside 98 Dwight St. in Red Hook.
Five people were struck, among them a 19-year-old pregnant woman who lost her unborn child, according to the NYPD.
Police said the shooting was retaliation for an earlier shooting at the Gowanus Houses, WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported Tuesday.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said the victims appear to have been innocent bystanders.
"It looked like it was a group outside on a warm summer evening," he said. "People were just out relaxing when this car pulled up."
Special Houston, who was four months pregnant, was shot five times, 1010 WINS' Al Jones reported Tuesday. She is listed in critical condition.
The other victims are in stable condition.
