Red Cross Has Body Of L.I. Native & Journalist Killed In Syria
GENEVA (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The International Committee of the Red Cross says it now has the bodies of two Western reporters killed in Syria, including a Long Island native, and is taking them to the country's capital.
Red Cross spokesman Bijan Farnoudi told The Associated Press on Friday the group is transporting the remains of American reporter Marie Colvin, originally of Oyster Bay, and French photographer Remi Ochlik to Damascus.
The two reporters were killed in the besieged Syrian city of Homs last month.

Videos, posted by an activist in the country, surfaced Thursday claiming Colvin and Ochlik had been buried in a cemetery in the neighborhood of Baba Amr.
Colvin's mother, Rosemarie Colvin, said she didn't know what to believe because of the conflicting news reports she was hearing.
Colvin's mother said that she was still holding on to hope, adding "she'll come home -- one way or another."
Marie Colvin was an award-winning journalist who worked for Britain's The Sunday Times. She was killed last month while covering the protests and unrest in Syria.
