Apparently, rats have taken a liking to Fort Washington Park too. Visitors and cyclists take snack breaks at the various picnic tables and scraps end up on the grass. "We've got a lot of 'em. Probably people throw food on the side and that's why there are so many," John told 1010 WINS' Al Jones.
John told Jones that the grass oftentimes moves at night and is why he won't come to the river bank early or late. "This whole area belongs to them."
Except for when Stuart and his Pit Bull Sky are around, Jones reported. "People love Sky because she's such a huge rat killer," Sky's owner Stuart said. "I mean, she is amazing."
Stuart says Sky has killed 46 rats in the last four years.
