Rape Victim Furious Over Expected Light Sentence
NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- A Brooklyn woman, raped as a teen, was speaking out against the light sentence given to her rapist.
The woman, identified by her first name only, said she was being violated again because her attacker was escaping jail time.
Tony Simmons, a juvenile court counselor, pleaded guilty to raping Ashley and sexually assaulting two other teenage girls, but he was only expected to receive 10 years probation.
Ashley called that an outrageous injustice. "He must have known somebody to get this special deal just for Tony Simmons, just for this disgusting human being he got this special plea deal," she said.
CBS 2HD attempted to reach the judge who approved the sentence but our phone call was not returned.
Sources said the Manhattan DA was exploring his legal options prior to Monday's formal sentencing.
