Rangers Lose Prust, Sign Enforcers Asham and Haley
NEW YORK (WFAN) — The Rangers added two enforcers to fill the void left by Brandon Prust, who is set to sign with the Montreal Canadiens.
Larry Brooks of the New York Post confirmed Prust has joined Montreal on a 4-year, $10 million dollar deal.
On Sunday, the Rangers signed former Islander Michael Haley and journeyman Aaron Asham. Andrew Gross of The Record reported the Rangers have signed Asham for two years at a total of $2.2 million. The full details on Haley's contract is yet to be announced, but is expected to be a two-year contract.
By joining the Rangers, Asham will have played for every team in the Atlantic Division. He played 64 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2011-12 and scored 16 points. Asham spent 76 minutes in the penalty box last season.
Haley played 14 games for the Islanders in 2011-12 and racked up 57 penalty minutes.
