Rangers Nash Moved To Injured Reserve List To Make Room For Rookie
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The Rangers have put All-Star winger Rick Nash on injured reserve retroactive to Saturday, Feb. 16, according to a Daily News report. He will sit for his third consecutive game against the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night and become eligible to play in all future games.
The move allows the club to recall Christian Thomas, 20, to the 23-man roster who is expected to make his NHL debut tonight against the Habs. He was the Rangers second-round pick in the 2010 NHL draft and has accumulated 24 points in 52 games for the Connecticut Whale so far this season.
Nash's injury has not been disclosed which has led to speculation of a concussion. The winger took a hard hit from Bruins forward Milan Lucic on Feb. 12 that rattled his head into the end boards.
The first overall pick in the 2002 NHL draft has 3 goals and 9 assists in 14 games since joining the Blueshirts in the off-season. He has scored 30 goals or more in each of his last five seasons.
