Rangers Great Adam Graves Not Ready To Give Up On Blueshirts

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It ain't over 'til it's over.

That's the message from Rangers great Adam Graves as New York faces elimination Thursday in Game 4 against the Boston Bruins at Madison Square Garden.

Though the Blueshirts have been outplayed by Boston across the board, Graves praised the team's spirit behind captain Ryan Callahan.

He said there's no way Cally & Co. will go down without a fight on their home ice.

"Absolutely not," Graves told WFAN radio co-hosts Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton. "And that's the one thing you can say is that this team has a lot of character, starting with their captain, Callahan, and the way he plays. Have the results been what they wanted? Absolutely not. And if you ask them, they would tell you the same thing. But it doesn't mean that the character isn't there and that they're not going to compete and battle.

CBS BOSTON: ONE WIN AWAY, BRUINS NOT LIVING IN PAST

"And again, back in the day, probably 10, 15 years ago, you get up three games to one, you're in that position, it was series over. It happens in sport now where teams come back. It's a different mentality."

New York hopes to survive past Thursday to get in that position in its best-of-seven series. Only three teams in NHL history have come back from an 0-3 hole.

The Rangers aren't focused on the miracle -- at least not yet. They're just taking it one game at a time, and the first step comes in Game 4.

"You dumb it down to one shift (at a time)," said Graves. "I know it sounds cliche, but you get it to 3-1, then all of the sudden you're in the same situation that a lot of other teams have been in and come back over the last 12, 15 years."
