Raijiv Pandey Says He Called In Bomb Threat Against LIPA To Help His Grandmother
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - A man says he phoned in a bomb threat against the Long Island Power Authority to try to get power back to his grandmother's house after Tropical Storm Irene.
Nassau County police say Raijiv Pandey called a TV station on Friday evening and threatened to place a bomb at a LIPA facility. Investigators searched more than 30 locations but did not find a bomb.
In an interview published Tuesday in the Daily News, Pandey admitted making the call and conceded the consequences could ruin his life.
He was charged with falsely reporting an incident.
The Central Islip resident said was frustrated after repeated calls to LIPA went unanswered
He said his grandmother "was dying of heat'' and all her food had spoiled.
Her power was restored Saturday.
