Man Charged In Murder Of Young Mother In Rahway, N.J.
RAHWAY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A man was charged Wednesday in the murder of a young Rahway mother who was found slain last week.
The Union County Prosecutor's office charged Roberto Grillo, 36, with the murder of Yolanda Vega, 35, on Dec. 7.
Vega, a mother of two, was found dead inside of her home early that morning, hours after police searched her home.
The county medical examiner determined Vega was strangled.
Rahway police were at the home on the evening of Sunday, Dec. 6 after Vega's son Jonathan came home and found what had been thought to be a gunman hiding in a closet.
Vega was nowhere to be found.
But then, overnight into Monday, Dec. 7, a family member found Vega's body behind a curtain in the basement.
Neighbors said Vega was a lovely person, devoted to her two sons.
She worked at a Dick's Sporting Goods store in Union. A manager there told CBS2's Tony Aiello, "Everyone here loved Yolanda. We are all in shock."
