Rahway Bikers Deliver Holiday Cheer To Children's Hospital
RAHWAY, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- Over 100 motorcyclists from the Liberty Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) of Rahway delivered toys and money to a children's hospital during the group's "Motorcycle Toy Run."
The group donated $1,445 in addition to over 500 toys to the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Barbara Gursky, director of the Childlife Program at the hospital, said the most popular gifts the group donated were Xbox 360 games.
"They gave us a large box of those games for the children...that is really going to make a difference for the children," Gursky told WCBS 880.
Gursky said that the hospital relies heavily on donations, but has not seen a drop in giving despite the downturn in the economy.
"I was a little nervous what would happen with the economy, but I'm telling you it brings out the best in people."
Gursky said the money donated will be used to buy laptop computers for the children.
